First Week taking classes at Waseda University

The Quiet Before the Storm

School has started for me on September 26th, 2022, and it has been a pleasure to be able to get used to the city life here in Tokyo. But now that the days of exploring and venturing are at a close, and I am preparing myself for a challenging semester from September to early February, all of my time will be towards improving my Japanese writing speaking and conversation skills. I will be taking 13 units in Japanese and 2 Units in Calculus this semester to again challenge myself in learning Japanese and calculus to refresh my skills in mathematics. I hope to use these classes to learn more efficiently.

I was told from the faculty here at Waseda University that it was NOT RECOMMENDED to take more than 11 units here at this institution because of the work load that is required from these classes. It was also said that not many people have been able to complete these courses with the chance of reaching from N5 to N2 proficiency in one year. For those who do not know what I am referring to, there are 5 levels for Japanese proficiency being with N5 which is the easiest level of Japanese comprehension to N1 which is advance level of Japanese comprehension. I did say earlier that I am an individual that likes to be stubborn and do the opposite of what others claim is easier. That is why I have promised myself that I will improve my Japanese exponentially.

I don't know what awaits for me throughout this year, but one things is for sure, is that once this year is over and I go back home, I want to make sure that there are no regrets in what I do. I will not only improve my Japanese, but I will not waste any time in traveling this beautiful country. I hope to learn a lot from the people around me and make a lot of memories as well. That is all I have for everyone. I will keep you all updated. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me anything. Take care everyone!

IT IS DURING OUR DARKEST MOMENTS THAT WE MUST FOCUS TO SEE THE LIGHT
