Visiting Kamakura
A Place With So Much
A couple of weeks have gone by and I have been having an amazing time here in Japan. I have been able to
somewhat get used to the life here in
Japan, but I still have a lot of to learn here in this country. However, I have been able to visit some amazing
places such as Akihabara, which
has been famous for its amazing rich culture of animation and main attractions. Being here, the program at our
school
have provided us with some amazing trips
that will "change" our lives forever. When I first heard that I would be visiting Kamakura, I never have thought
that I would have such an amazing time.
I did have to travel a little to get to there which from Mejiro Station to {add name of station here} which was
about {enter amount here}. The trip was about an hour and a half and since
it was in october, the weather there was a little frigid. I was still really excited since I would be visiting a
place that was not in Tokyo but rather outside the big city. I would
also be using this chance to start learning about Japanese culture which is one of the reasons why I chose to
travel to study in this country. Kamakura was really amazing. I learned that some of
the artifacts there are over 1000 years old which is something I did not expect to see in person. Considering
that the oldest things we have in America are from New York and even California is not
that old, it was really fascinating to find something interesting.
One of the best places I feel that I found amazing was at place high in a mountain, when I first climbed the
stairs to the top temple, it was a real challenge because normally something
really high in magnitude would have an elevator but in this case we had to climb at least a couple of hundred
stairs to be able to make to the top. It was a hassle, but totally worth it. When you take a
look in the horizon, you can only see the beautiful ocean scenery and see the city that we were at from the top
as well. After enjoying that scenery, we made our way to the nearest ocean which
all I could remember the children playing together, families having a great conversation and just watching
people just enjoy swimming and surfing on the beach. The sense of seeing a perfect evening to
an amazing day made me feel really relaxed and thankful for everything that has happened thus far in this
program. I know this isn't the last time I will visit here, but I will make sure
to make it better than this time. That's all for now, if you all want to enjoy a little bit of a small town with
a huge amount of rich culture of Japan, I highly recommend KÅtoku-in
.
